Yoto Player
•••
we 👏 are 👏 a 👏 yoto 👏 house 👏 we got a mini last christmas to dip a toe in and quickly got the big one too. I find them much more aesthetically pleasing than Tonies, and my 2YO can work the whole thing himself, which he loves. we love the song cards (ms rachel MYO, wiggles, caspar babypants), daniel tiger, corduroy. the sleepy stories are so helpful for our bedtime routine. so excited to listen to longer books together as he gets older. we have the 2024 versions but the new ones seem cool!

Wooden Play Food Sets for Kids
•••
my discerning bestie got this for us and it’s the best play food set of all time? I asked her where she got it so I could include it here and regretfully you must procure from dark lord bezos. worth it unfortunately. the food is cute, the velcro somehow feels like real cutting, and it all fits in a cute little wooden box. ideal companion to the IKEA countertop mini kitchen.

For snugglers: SoftBloom Floor Bed for Toddlers & Kids
$599
•••
expensive but hear me out; my son’s crib was the kind that turned into a toddler bed with a rail. when we set it up, my husband and I were bummed to find that we couldn’t really snuggle him :( after months of rocking him to sleep, this was a great disappointment for all parties. so, I searched far and wide for a twin bed that could hold the weight of a kid and one (perhaps even two!) adults. the headboard and side supports are great for our nightly routine of reading books in bed and then snuggling up until he falls asleep. I really couldn’t find anything else like this and this was more than we wanted to spend, but it’s been worth it to have something that’s safe and comfy, and he csn use it for years than pass it on to our next hypothetical kid. I’ve unintentionally slept the whole night in here and it wasn’t the world’s best sleep but honestly not bad. (disclaimer: usually I would only recommend something that’s been truly battle-tested but because this was the ONLY thing I could find that met all my criteria and we love it so immediately, I can’t gatekeep! will update the rec over time if I find something not to love about it)

Smore Kids Play Chair in Bamboo
$199
•••
we spend most of our time as a family in a the living room, and it’s a constant balance for me to have enough play things for my son to have fun without the main room of our house being totally overrun by toys. I didn’t want to surrender the real estate to the full-size nugget and this chair does so much for its size! we leave it most of the time in a cute “house” configuration and toss a blanket over it for an instant fort. we also have lots of fun using the elbow piece as a car ramp. this was our “big gift” from mom & dad for our son’s second birthday and a few months later I’d do it again!

STENMUS mini-play kitchen, white/black
•••
I LOVE THIS THING. was looking for a kid kitchen with a smaller footprint. paired with the IKEA kid pots/pans and play food, we use this every day. I especially like that I set it on the kitchen counter and my son stand in his toddler tower and cook play dinner while I make real dinner. it’s also fun to set on top a low cabinet and use that as the “oven” 100/10. and $25!!!!

mega blocks - duplos - legos pipeline as your kid ages
•••
we have yet to reach the legos stage (my son is 2) but I’m kind of a toy minimalist and megablocks and duplos are soooo fun. a must have. megablocks are great for 6mo-3Y and everyone’s different but you can really start having fun with duplos around 2Y. my son likes making towers while I reach a flow state making pleasing color combos. classics for a reason!!!!
