There's something about using a cloth napkin that elevates a meal regardless of how humble the actual menu might be. Try it - even a piece of toast is a bit more of an occasion when there's a gently rumpled navy napkin next to the plate.
I love to switch in different colors or patterns depending on the season - a soft blue chambray in the summer, perhaps a bold plaid for Thanksgiving. Right now this hem-stitched version in cotton percale is catching my eye for its heritage detail and time-softened appeal.

My drapery workroom, I'm an interior designer, made me a ton of linen napkins for my wedding. (I was going to pay but the darling sweet ladies did it for free as a gift🥰) We gave a bunch away as gifts for people that helped us, but we still have a ton and use them every meal, 14 years later. Such a treat having fabric napkins!
