Did you know that only 14 states plus DC have PFML programs? In my state - Washington State - you can get around 12 paid full weeks, and it currently offers one of the highest max weekly benefits while offering up to 90% weekly wage replacement. This is a really big deal and a lifeline when facing big life moments from complicated pregnancies (up to 18 weeks) to mental health challenges, and from chronic illness support (where time can also be allocated by hours) to managing serious illnesses and injuries. If you or someone you know has used the program, an advocacy group is collecting stories (at the link) to keep the program alive.

Seattle ReCreative is a nonprofit art supplies thrift store. Theyāre doing their best to keep quality supplies out of landfills while providing them at a great bargain (seriously).They also have classes and a maker space. Itās great for crafters, artists, people running creative workshops (over here!),and those that love the thrill of the hunt. More Art šØ Less Trash šļø!

SALON OF SHAME, Seattle

The idea is simple: folks read on stage from their worst adolescent writing, including middle school diaries, high school poetry, unsent letters, etc. Founded in 2005, the Salon is cathartic for readers and hilarious for the rest of us. The show runs around 60-90 minutes and includes many different readers. Iāve gone three times and have laughed so hard my side got sore and I shed a tear. The second time I bravely signed up and read the entry about my (10yo) hamstersā untimely death and how I accused my sister (14yo). She attended and invited a bunch of friends, so I got to point to her in the audience which everyone loved. Weāre really funny and sweet and filled with feelings and new discoveries when weāre really young.
