I remember being about 25 and thinking I knew everything there was to possibly know about being myself but ooooh boy was I wrong. We’re like onions - the layers never stop revealing themselves. Your 30s are a time where you’ll continue to discover new passions/joys, new fears perhaps, new things you didn’t know you were capable of. Your heart may break, and if it does, hopefully it will break open more than you knew possible. For me, I faced my first huge “adult” life adversity in my 30s (daughter has severe developmental delay) which was an unexpected initiation that has deepened my connection with myself, my fellow humans, and the planet. Now at 40 I am more at home in my body and soul than ever before and look forward to continuing to fully inhabit myself. Disclaimer: The 30s obviously isn’t a guarantee of some big, definitive adult life conflict but for me it was my time and it helped me, in the words of Nick Cave, deepen the work of “becoming a real human being.”
