A daily stretching regimen
•••
When you turn 30, your knees stop bending like they used to. Your joints pop like glow-sticks every time you so much as get up from a chair. Find a short stretching routine that works for you, and do it as soon as you get out of bed to start your day. Treasure and maintain that range of motion!

Trusting your inner voice

Because it helps you live more intuitively in many aspects; I think your 30’s can lead you to a more grounded sense of self, depending on how introspective you’re willing to get. Also: • Live expansively • Don’t cling to expectations

Deepening into yourself
•••
I remember being about 25 and thinking I knew everything there was to possibly know about being myself but ooooh boy was I wrong. We’re like onions - the layers never stop revealing themselves. Your 30s are a time where you’ll continue to discover new passions/joys, new fears perhaps, new things you didn’t know you were capable of. Your heart may break, and if it does, hopefully it will break open more than you knew possible. For me, I faced my first huge “adult” life adversity in my 30s (daughter has severe developmental delay) which was an unexpected initiation that has deepened my connection with myself, my fellow humans, and the planet. Now at 40 I am more at home in my body and soul than ever before and look forward to continuing to fully inhabit myself. Disclaimer: The 30s obviously isn’t a guarantee of some big, definitive adult life conflict but for me it was my time and it helped me, in the words of Nick Cave, deepen the work of “becoming a real human being.”

how to be
being 30+

this isn’t much of a rec but WELCOME! I have found this side of 30 to be immeasurably more joyful, grounded, purposeful, and rewarding than my 20s. turning 30 made me more excited for my 40s and 50s (and beyond, g*d willing, but that’s harder to envision from here). aging is such a privilege, we get more life! more agency! i had some kind of overnight internal software upgrade when i turned 30 and life has just been fuller since. happy happy birthday!
