Maxwells Trading: a little asian, a little american, a lot of delicious. one of my favorite meals from when i visited the windy city.

rootstock wine & beer bar: Casual neighborhood restaurant with a regularly changing menu. The pasta is always on point and the burger (a mainstay on the menu) is one of the best in the city. My go-to order is fries, oysters or large shrimp, the Werp Farm salad, whatever pasta or fish they’re serving. I don’t drink, but they’re known for their encyclopedic wine list!! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city—so much so that I moved a few blocks away.

They don’t take reservations, so saunter up around 5 or 5:30 after they open. They have a lovely little patio in the front as well!

Le Colonial: Gorgeous, delicious, romantic. Get the corner booth- I saw an old couple snuggling in it when I was there and I died.

cindys rooftop chicago athletic: If you’re not scared of heights there are some lovely rooftops with great cocktails. Cindy’s is my favorite but the London House is also nice, also The Up Room in Wicker Park.

If you prefer the ground hopping, around different places on the Chicago river walk is fun.

A Million Things To Do In Chicago: For dinner wherever you end will be right. It’s Chicago after all, but please take advantage of all of the art & performance here if you can! Or at least the lake!

Shaw's Crab House: As a Chicago native, I would highly recommend Shaw’s crab house. It’s an institution. Vibes like no other. One side is a more casual oyster bar that feels untouched by time. The other side is more formal dining. Highly recommend requesting a booth. And the bar seating is also excellent. Perfect martinis. Impeccable service. A great reintroduction to the adults you were before you had kids.
