Institut océanographique de monaco: beautiful building with views of Monaco’s oceans. Is about a 1 hour train ride/drive from Cannes. the drive itself is worth it as it goes along scenic cliffs over the ocean.good for a day trip.

Unite d’Habitation / Cite Radieuse: Le Corbusier’s Brutalist magnum opus, which still operates as a condominium (+ restaurant/museum) today. Worth a few hours if you’re an architecture nerd. Book a tour through the Marseille tourism board— the English language tours book up quickly!

Maison Empereur: The most incredible home and kitchen store I’ve ever been to in my life. I spent close to 3 hours in here. There are some pretty iconic French work jackets they sell that are worth copping along with their dinner wear. Shopping here will require you to buy an extra piece of luggage to bring home your treasured finds.

La Caravelle: Iconic bar overlooking the port of Marseille. It gets packed, so go early to get a seat on the balcony overlooking the water. Nicest staff.

Morning Eco-Calanques boat tour: I used to be a hater of book-able activities like this, but I am a changed woman. (I would probably have preferred to hike in/out of the national park, but we had our eight month old in tow, which would have been impossible.) Instead, we booked a few morning  boat tours, which were such laid back way to experience this beautiful, unique part of Marseille. We chose this company because they allow swimming, the boats are small, electric and quiet (our son took two naps each morning!) and the vibe is much more chill than some of the other companies we saw. They even brewed coffee each morning, which was clutch!
