See if you can try one out in person! There is a big difference in a wheel based motor and a mid drive one.: If you live in a hilly terrain, spring for a mid drive motor.The wheel based ones are less expensive, but they feel a bit like you’re spinning your wheels- less responsive to your actual pedals.

I think a lot of people have never felt what a mid drive feels like and they have no idea what they are missing. A mid drive based motor in a hilly area is like the push from your Grandpa to give you wings. I personally love my Bosch powered E cruiser! One of my very favorite things.

vida e bike in happy mint: An e-bike was on my wishlist for SO long. We finally pulled the trigger so we could bike down to the baseball fields and hit the trails as a family this summer. This is well worth the money (plus I got mine on clearance!) because it gets your body moving and gets you outside with less effort and strain than a regular bike. You end up wanting to ride more often and longer when you don’t have to work as hard on those hills!

Riese & Müller Supercharger: I have a 50 mile RT commute and live on a very steep hill so my must-haves were: 1) long range, and 2) powerful! I ended up going with a Riese & Müller and I LOVE it. Very spendy, but I essentially use it as an alternative to a car. Four years in, I'm super happy with it and the color makes me smile.
