Peep Show (tv series): Easily the funniest show. I have conservatively seen the whole thing 30 times and it never stops being funny, shocking, brilliant, or strangely comforting. This is a show that thrives on characters who are consistently themselves, always in damaging ways.

The New One (Mike Birbiglia): This is my favorite comedy special! Mike unpacks all the reasons he was never going to have a kid and also his experience of having a kid. I love how Mike mixes storytelling/vulnerability with very funny jokes. This is probably the only special I would weep from laughing at on my 6th viewing.

People Just Do Nothing: incredible mockumentary-style show about an underground pirate radio station. very much a predecessor to stath lets flats and a regular rewatch in my house. the first time i saw it i cried laughing almost constantly and its finally back streaming!! I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson: I tend to say, “That’s funny,” instead of actually laughing (I’m working on it). The sketches in Season 2, Episode 1 of ITYSL were such a jolt — most I’ve laughed sans edibles.

How to with John Wilson: I’m always surprised by how few people know about this amazing show. John Wilson is a documentarian in New York who starts each episode with a question (I.e. “how to cover your furniture”) that takes him to unexpected and hilarious places. Full of wild characters and occasionally really touching. It’s produced by Nathan Fielder which gives you a clue about its sense of humor, but I find it less painful to watch than something like Nathan for You.
