The Gallows Pole

A recent A24 series directed by Shane Meadows, this is a curious and often very funny journey into ye olde weird England. At just 3 episodes it feels like it may as well have been a film but the longer run time does provide space for extended improvised banter and lush scene setting in and around the 1860s Yorkshire village. A dark comic caper of redemption and resistance, featuring some great performances and a killer psychedelic soundtrack.
