San Miguel de Allende
•••
San Miguel de Allende is one of our family’s favorite vacation destinations. It has a magical, storybook feel that reminds me of Disneyland—but with authentic Mexican culture, history, and charm. The Centro Histórico is absolutely beautiful: colorful streets, stunning architecture, inviting plazas, and everything is incredibly clean and walkable. Because my children speak Spanish, they’re able to fully immerse themselves in the community. They love attending art camps at the Instituto Allende, making new friends at Xote Water Park, and playing with local and visiting children wherever we go. It’s a place where kids naturally connect, regardless of where they’re from. Beyond the city, the surrounding countryside is equally special. The wineries are gorgeous and offer a relaxing escape for adults while remaining welcoming to families. Our absolute favorite is Mamma Mia Campestre—a family-friendly brewery and restaurant with a beautiful lake, farm animals, expansive outdoor play areas, and plenty of space for children of all ages (especially ages 1–12) to explore while parents unwind. It’s the perfect combination of great food, beautiful scenery, and family fun. For us, San Miguel de Allende is that rare destination that truly delights every member of the family. Whether you’re wandering the cobblestone streets, enjoying incredible food, exploring local art, or spending the day outdoors, it’s a place we return to again and again.

Egypt - pyramids & grand Egyptian museum
•••
We saved the pyramids for the very end of our Egypt adventure, and it was one of the best decisions we made. After spending time at the incredible Grand Egyptian Museum, ending our trip at the Pyramids of Giza felt like the perfect grand finale. Standing before the pyramids was one of those rare travel moments that leaves your whole family in awe. Photos simply don’t prepare you for their scale, history, and presence. We all felt deeply impressed and genuinely delighted to be there together, taking in one of the world’s greatest wonders. Visiting the Grand Egyptian Museum first gave us a much richer appreciation for what we were seeing. After learning about the artifacts, pharaohs, and ancient Egyptian civilization, walking among the pyramids brought everything to life in a way that was both meaningful and unforgettable. For families visiting Egypt, I couldn’t recommend this sequence more highly: begin with the Grand Egyptian Museum, then end your journey at the pyramids. It was the perfect ending to an extraordinary trip and a memory our family will cherish forever.

Hydra, Greece
•••
After landing in Athens, we headed straight to the fast ferry for Hydra, and it was the perfect way to begin our Greek adventure. The ferry ride takes less than two hours, making Hydra an easy and worthwhile escape from the city. The island’s picturesque harbor is lined with charming restaurants, cafés, and boutique shops, creating an idyllic first impression. We stayed at the beautiful Boutique Hotel Miranda, just a few minutes’ walk from the port, which made exploring effortless. One of Hydra’s most magical features is that there are no cars or Vespas on the island. The quiet streets, sea air, and slower pace make it feel incredibly peaceful and unique. If you’d rather not walk, donkeys and water taxis are available to help you reach different parts of the island, including Mandraki Beach Resort. We chose to take the scenic coastal walk to Mandraki Beach, and it was one of our favorite parts of the day. Once there, we rented a private cabana, ordered refreshing drinks and delicious food delivered right to our lounge chairs, and spent the afternoon swimming, relaxing, and renting paddle boats. It struck the perfect balance of luxury and laid-back island life. Hydra was the ideal place to ease into our vacation—beautiful, walkable, relaxing, and full of timeless Greek charm. We would happily return again and again.
