Disco Elysium
•••
“Sunrise, parabellum. Sunrise, prepare for war.” sunrise burns my bleary eyes. how did the fluorescents burn less than this? like harry, i cannot sleep. she is waiting for me in my dreams. i cannot bear to relive it again and know i cannot change the end. but in disco elysium, i can. save scum is an awful sounding term for a natural desire to wield your own fate against the world. it’s bleak out there, but warm in the light of the infernal engine. “THOUGHT GAINED: INFERNAL ENGINES The world is ending…The infernal machine that is this stupid world is going to blow sooner rather than later. So what are you doing? Why are you here? …The fight fuels you, and you fuel the fight. You run yourself ragged for the chance to keep running. You never stop. You cannot stop. The world depends on it. You are the infernal engine. You are the world. And, simply put, you want to live.” SHIVERS: Be vigilant. I love you.
