Somatics
•••
Learning about and practising somatics has truly changed my mind-body connection. There are so many simple movements you can do to help release stagnant energy, ground yourself, and regulate your nervous system. This is my friend & teacher's website, but there are many offerings out there to explore, both in person and from your home. Sending so much love <3

Silly little mental health walks in nature
•••
Just left the house for the first time in 9 days to go for a silly lil mental health walk in nature and found myself bawling my eyes out at this rainbow lorikeet just hanging outside his lil tree stump house. We stared into each other's eyes for a good 10 mins until he decided that was enough and retreated back inside his lil tree hole.

Go to the movies (+BAM Cinemas Membership)
•••
Pre-kids, my husband and I had a standing movie night out on Sunday evenings. This habit both extended the weekend and thoroughly distracted me from Sunday scaries. Also recommend a BAM cinema membership if you’re in NYC—for more affordable tickets & great programming.

All About Me
Taking a Walk
•••
My grandfather's list of avocations is always a touchpoint for me on both a sentimental and practical level. Walking several miles daily before work is a great way to get thinking about what you still need to accomplish. Great on your own (no music!) or great with a friend that you can brain dump to. Just make sure you have your notes app handy for any thoughts that jog loose. (I always do!)

Make Sunday a day of rest/self care
•••
Get your to do list done by Saturday even if it means doing some of it after work during the week so that Sunday can 100% be a day of rest and recharge. Do whatever makes you feel inspired and content whether that’s laying in a park and reading a book, taking a leisurely bath, going to a museum, or binge watching a comfort show. Bonus points for staying off your phone. Not only will it stave off the Sunday scaries, it will also be grounding and start your week off right.

Truly changed my life. But I really remember the Sunday Scaries. Mine were a deep immersive pit of despair. My body telling me “this isn’t the career for you.” Quit job, which leads to different scaries but a better path. GOOD LUCK!
