How the hell to make friends...
Ruining the workplace
•••
I am a woman. I am employed. Therefore, it is my duty to ruin the workplace. You can count on me to tape stupid shit to the walls of our workroom. I have actually spent a day running around forcing all my coworkers to take a "what kind of reflex hammer are you?" quiz. I've burned valuable time having in-depth discussions on asparagus pee. I pat myself on the back every time I leave work knowing it was weirder and less productive because of me!

Running clubs

Something about being active with friendly people feels really mentally healthy. I have a sneaking suspicion this is how humans are meant to exist. P.S. I don't know these people in the photo that Rec League chose, but they look fun.

Garbage Time
•••
“I don’t want quality time,” Jerry [Seinfeld] says. “I want the garbage time. That’s what I like. You just see [my kids] in their room reading a comic book and you get to kind of watch that for a minute, or a bowl of Cheerios at 11 o’clock at night when they’re not even supposed to be up. The garbage, that’s what I love.” Garbage time = doing activities without the slightest whiff of optimization/productivity with your favorites. Some of the best moments of my life have been spending garbage time with family, friends, and coworkers. I didn't know how the hell to choose a picture for this one until I remembered that I have a video of the time my friends and I decided to spend the night attempting to play the Star Wars theme song on our recorders (WE PARTIED HARD IN COLLEGE). Spoiler alert: nothing sounds good on an instrument that cost $3.95. ULTIMATE GARBAGE TIME. Thankfully, Garbage Time is still part of my life now that I'm a mature adult or whatever. Yesterday my cousin and I visited the toy store near our brunch spot and bought a weird ass satanic snail toy. Which I WILL be bringing to work tomorrow, to facilitate garbage time there as well.

Steel String Brewery Run Club
•••
I've been once, but really liked the vibes and there are a lot of cool people here. We ran about 3 miles, probably easy-moderate pace. Although it was about 100 degrees, everyone survived. I got some free cider, which was a fun bonus. I'm still sampling a bunch of other local run clubs, but I'll definitely come back to this one.
