Skip the travel adapter, swap the laptop cable

Laptop power cords are modular! Check the specs on the power brick, then swap the business (outlet) end to your destination plug type. Incognito mode activated.

I've been doing this across multiple decades and multiple laptops to no ill effect. I asked a couple of electricians and they couldn't find a reason for concern as long as you get a good quality one. It saves a lot of hassle, especially on trains and at cafes.

NB: This is a swap for an adapter, not a converter. If your device can't take the local juice, then this won't work, but those clunky bricks mean the magic is internal, at least for laptops.
