Blue Sky Acupuncture Studio: I moved away from the bay a while ago but I always make a point to come back to be treated by VICTORIA! technically in piedmont and not the easiest to get to from sf but she is so worth it. she put me back together again when I really needed it. have referred other friends to her for years and they also sing her praises. this studio rocks and so does she.

Deluxe Lavender Nail Spa in Cole Valley: I came here monthly for the five years I lived in Cole Valley. It’s a clean and comfortable space, and they always do an excellent job. The 3.1 Yelp Rating must be angry people only. What puts this spot over the top is you can call and make an appointment, and they will ALWAYS honor it. None of that BS of walking into a nail salon only to realize they took your scheduled appointment as a suggestion. Owner is super nice and remembers her clients (and their families and everything they’ve ever shared with her).

Tiger’s Eye Beauty: Raquel is the business owner and esthetician. It’s more than business for her—she takes great care to build relationships with her clients. She’s one of those people who makes you feel beautiful inside and out, and that’s why I’ve followed her around since 2014. She now owns her space in the Outer Sunset, with super easy parking and access via public transport (you’ll learn that this is critical in SF!)

get your eyebrows threaded by Indian women: I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for 20 years so trust me on this one, we just know what we're doing! luckily, no matter where I am in the world, I can find a South Asian threading salon that will get me in and out in 10 minutes.

La Tira Wax Studio: one of the hardest parts of moving is finding new spots for all your things (nail salon, hair salon, wax place, eyebrow place etc.). so here is a recommendations for those girlies. a great wax studio where crucially the waxers are great conversationalists so I barely even feel the pain. ideal!
