“fan of the discography De La Soul, but you gotta hear Trying People.
found in university when opportunities felt overwhelming & endless. and friendships were more fickle.
help'd me settle in. guide expectations. set good example.
and its interesting to look back at times and see who kept their stride or change'd their words. hard years will do that.
but can feel who'd last, and some surprises too.
still all love & trash talk for most of it.
as a kid, i was in a few different scenes.
but the core friends i recognize'd are a glittery rainbow light & a artsy wild card. we adapt'd together and try to understand each other through our diff phases of growth.
and they fam now after our own family dramas.
and in the years we end up goin’ through something heavy,
we sound like our idiot youth days.
and thats all fine, things are funny familiar again.
tho couldnt pay me enough to live back any past.
fuck trend~y folk tryna tell me when.
~~~
know i be on a duo album cover theme, but when it comes to music + friends ~ groups seem more stable with about 3 core members.
some odd number'd third to break the others out their cycles and act as a sounding board or reignite the others. hold them steady. act as a reminder.
flexible roles that change over the days + years.
could be a woof. a purr. or ‘izird.
plus they fit more comfortably in casual sized car, table, or vacation. always easy to squeeze in a 4th, 5th, 7th in the back.
from what i’ve heard from old heads and seen in life & death ~ when one passes, favorite characteristics live on in the others.
but the influence starts from day 1s.
album on youtube + apple + spotify”
