Northern Short-Tailed Shrew

“Need to do a deep dive but I owe so many creature features that I’m just dropping this short-tailed shrew my dad has been hanging out with during his Zen retreat. Apparently it paralyzes its prey and keeps it alive…go off (chilling but I have cat, and cats are sadists, so I can’t talk). According to this article he sent me, they have super high metabolisms, which I remember being true about star-nosed moles, too…burrowing through the earth is probably hard work. My dad also informed me that I made friends with a shrew on a family vacation to Scotland when I was four. Every story about me as a child is about me being “friends” with an animal even if it’s trying to like eat me.”
