When the Pawn...

“all the way down, up, backwards, forwards, this one has no misses!”

“I have loved this album through my teen years to my twenties and now thirties. Only conclusion is that Fiona Apple was and is an absolute genius.”

“She’s feral here and so am I when I listen. Ending with “I Know” is so diabolical though and I’ll never forgive her for that but it’s my favorite off the album.”

“My gateway album to an all-time fave — “When the pawn…” spoke to the angsty, romantic, depressive gay teen dreaming of a grown up life and its attendant passions. Nobody does it better than her.”

“One of my favorite albums to crunch walk in the leaves to.”

“Probably the most influential musician in my life. There are a thousand things to be said about her artistry and craft, but maybe one of the most honest ones is that nobody can capture the pain of surviving a narcissist like she can.”
