The Wire

“One of the best shows of all time. Has earned annual re-watch with the husband status, and I feel like I notice new details every time. Despite being 20+ years old now, it still feels relevant - which is a whole conversation in its own right. I love seeing actors from the show pop up in other shows and movies, too.”

“An education. When I was in senior year of high school a social studies teacher created a seminar for a few of us where we basically just watched this (and the “Up” series, also incredible! But probably not along the lines of what you’re looking for) and talked about it once a week. I’ve always felt so lucky to have had that experience, since this show honestly reshaped how I viewed American society fundamentally and irreversibly. I think it’s an important watch, and also highly amusing. Acting is just top-notch.”

“Because the personal is political and all our institutions are set up to fail you.”

“Each season would break your heart.”
