“A classic. 100% would reccomend. It takes a while to read, but it is worth it in the end.”

“Don’t mess with Edmond. This book is unbelievably good, was worried my attention span too janky for the 1200 pages, but it kept me entranced.”

“For a book that is 180 years old, it is unbelievably gripping and still a joy to read, every time.”

“The characterization is wonderful, the plotting is tight, and the social commentary is sharp - but that's not why this book is close to my heart. I love it because the Count is not a power fantasy, but a justice fantasy. Yes, the Count uses power to enact his revenge, but we only see him through the eyes of secondary characters. We are not invited to share his pleasure directly. Instead, our pleasure comes from seeing villains get their comeuppance and heroes their just deserts. Basically, this book is an ode to FAFO. I approve.”
