“Was listening to this record again this morning, and it surely belongs on some kind of short list of great records by groups who broke up for a decade or more and then came back seemingly out of nowhere to gift us all a new album (see also A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service (2016) and De La Soul’s Cabin in the Sky (2025)). Carrie Brownstein’s guitar is sharp enough to cut yourself on, and the choruses of “A New Wave” and “Bury Our Friends” rank among my favorites from them.”
