“THE summer show. 1960s palm beach high society. some of the best period set design, costumes, and soundtrack I'VE EVER SEEN. it's hilarious and high stakes with a PERFECT ensemble including Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin (the triple threat himself), Allison Janney, CAROL BURNETT, Laura Dern, Leslie Bibb, Kaia Gerber, Julia Duffy (who has me crying laughing) and Josh Lucas. some things to know before you watch:
you need to watch the whole first season because each episode reinforces the other trust me
if for whatever reason you stop liking it watch it for the set & costumes alone they get better and better
season 2 gets a little weird halfway through so stop there if needed
in my opinion this show progresses to be far more than its aesthetic. it tackles the desperate feelings of wanting to belong (whether you're a poor girl from tennessee, a gay guy when it's illegal, or any one of the characters with a lucrative past), female friendship that crosses social boundaries, marriage, and more. it's not perfect but it's a little crazy and most importantly FUN!!!”
