“Whit Stillman makes some of the best films not just about New York City but about the foibles, affectations, and idealism of its denizens.”

“"the acid test is whether you take any pleasure in responding to the question 'what do you do?'...i can't bear it."”

“Barcelona is arguably even nearer to my heart but if any whit Stillman movie is recommendable en masse then it’s this by default. That said, so genius, I wish I could justify telling everyone I like to watch it. (But it’s basically plotless, just wit and irony for ~2 hours). Very Austen-esque. Came to mind because I have no one around to make an UHB joke to.”

“This is so very specifically the film I identify with the most. If you want to know me you must watch this film.”
