Industry

“Workplace drama about finance. Characters make very bad choices and are quite cruel to one another. Dark and compelling. Better in the earlier seasons.”

“best soundtrack too”

“If you’re still sleeping on Industry, eat some prunes, go to the toilet, and get your shit TOGETHER because the latest season finale just dropped, and you best believe screams were coming from my apartment. I can neither confirm nor deny whether said screams were coming from me or my cats. That episode took years off my life and I have zero regrets. Let me just say this: nothing will prepare you for the onslaught of unhinged plot twists. It's chaotic, juicy, intense, messy and at times bleak as fuck — which, as of five seconds ago, I’ve decided is the elite formula to get me hooked on a TV show. I saw it described somewhere as Succession meets Euphoria meets Gossip Girl. I think Industry was more entertaining than any of those shows but that might just be my hyperfixation talking. I still don’t grasp most of the finance bro jargon in the rapid-fire dialogue, but honestly, it doesn’t even matter because it’s just superb television. (original post on my substack.)”

“Equal parts Succesion, Euphoria, and Girls- a HBO show about a cohort of elite UK college hires joining the prestigious, brutal rat race (a career in finance) at an esteemed fictional financial institution in London. It’s so sexy, toxic, darkly funny, and fully insane. Some of the most savage and creative insults/dialogue you’ll hear on TV.”

“I don’t know what’s going on and I don’t care! Hot freaks with bad judgement playing with fire. YEP!”

“no one is ok. your mileage may vary here… hard to shock me but i do occasionally clutch a pearl”

“SO UNDERRATED. not to be that person, but "why aren't more people talking about this"! if you took the best elements of succession + euphoria, it could be this. don't be deterred by the finance talk of it all, even idiots like me can get into it.”

“Succession meets Skins… three seasons, only gets better. Definitely something you can’t watch while scrolling!”

“🤑🍑🍆”

“Outrageously entertaining tv. Season 3 in particular. And yes, you need to watch chronologically.”

“I’m mostly here for Yasmin and Harper.”

“WHY ISN’T EVERYONE WATCHING THIS BRILLIANCE”

“been watching on and off with my boyfriend this year after having it raved about to us since season 1 and immediately understood the hype. sort of plays like "gen z succession," though i mean that in a complimentary way. this isn't my world at all - 90% of the financial jargon goes over my head lol - but the writing is so biting and unpredictable and the performances so electric (especially from myha'la, marisa abela, and ken leung) that i'm still never not locked in. halfway through so far and it just keeps getting better, and i've heard we haven't seen anything yet.”

“Myha'la”

“I've loved this show and its synth soundtrack since the beginning, when it was SKINS meets SUCCESSION in a cutthroat London finance firm. That was when Harper's biggest problem was that she secretly went to SUNY-Binghamton and my biggest problem was that I didn't really understand the financial jargon. Everyone was stressed out, made bad decisions, and partied hard -- basically, Kendall Roy. In Seasons 3 and Season 4, the show made the best decision to pivot away from the singular firm and into a loose interpretation of its title, looking at various other industries (government, banking) and how they're all intertwined, playing fast and loose with money and Harper could short them. Aside from all the storylines, the character work is tremendous and have I mentioned the soundtrack? Brilliant. Harper and Eric are my favorite toxic American duo in England -- two dysfunctional POC who are somehow the weirdest finance kindred spirits, but it works -- and I hope they reunite in the final season.”

“why do i only have one cool friend who is watching this show everyone should be watching this show”

“Intense and gritty. Great characters”
