“THIS is a documentary. This is a story well told. About the Nissan Hardbody Competition, 1997. Where contestants have to have one hand on the truck for as long as they can and the last one standing wins the car. Harder than you’d think The annual competition stopped after when in 2005 a contestant dropped out after 48 hours and killed himself.”

“this documentary follows a handful of people in the parking lot of a dealership as they compete to win a truck by leaving their hands on it (for several days). the editing— specifically the crossfade of the moon framed within a spinning tire makes me giggle. the low definition camera is peak. their southern accent pronunciation of the word TRUCK is my new vocal stim. for anyone nostalgic for a more lo-tech time or anyone looking for source material about america, consumerism, and class. it’s uploaded in full on the internet archive too 🛻”
