Port of Long Beach Harbor Tours

“The port of Long Beach offers free boat tours of the harbor from May-September. I went last Saturday and it was fantastic. Tickets are awarded through a lottery system, I signed up for the lottery for May and June with no luck. Then last month I received an email informing me that I had been chosen to take a tour of the port. I now have a more intimate knowledge of what winning the power ball must feel like. Everyone on the tour is really excited to be there (as they have also won the lottery), and it’s so awesome to see all of the machinery and engineering feats of modern day cargo ships up close. A good reminder of the triumphs of industrialization and a peek behind the curtain into the infrastructure that supports our everyday lives.”
