Flag of Ust-Yansky District

“The flag of the Ust-Yansky District (in the Sakha Republic, Russia) is vertically split into two halves (white on the hoist side, yellow on the fly) featuring a central forward-facing purple mammoth (!) with black eyes, with its colors reversing against the background. The purple mammoth symbolizes the district's paleontological heritage and the region's ancient past, while the split white and yellow fields represent the long, snowy winters and the golden aurora or short, bright summers of the Arctic North.”
