“The writing of Eve Babitz to me is unlike any other. She feels like your internal monologue and describes the world around her so delicately. Her love and hate for LA is so modern feeling (or not much has changed) and relatable. She’s also hilarious and has met practically everyone important so I highly recommend people check out her writing. Fun fact, I discovered her via the infamous Didion/Babitz book that came out a couple years ago by that author who is obsessed with Eve and hates Joan. I put it down to look her up and never looked back! Incidentally I never finished the book. This one is great, and a limited free version is also on the internet archive.”
