Better Things

“Stumbled upon this hilariously endearing series after watching Anora (despite not liking it) & becoming struck by the talent that is Mikey Madison. Pamela Adlon is brilliant in her role as Sam Fox, an actor & single mum juggling her career, three teenagers, her eccentric mother who lives next door, amid a mix of relatable moments & mishaps.”

“Pamela Adlon’s Better Things is one of my favorite tv series of all time. I have probably watched the entire series at least 4 times— twice by myself, once w/ my spouse, and once with my son. I love every single thing about it. I want to infiltrate her world. Even the hard, sad, ugly parts are treated with so much care the entire show is warm and cozy and smart and cool.”

“First day on RecLeague and I see a rec for a show I'm on? THESE ARE MY PEOPLE.”

“Pamela Adlon being messy, vulnerable and always always funny. She is an effortlessly cool single mom, but surrounded by her somewhat cruel punk-ass daughters who mostly find her endlessly embarrassing. She loves them anyway. Celia Imrie who plays the absurd grandmother and hilariously steals every scene.”

“I. Love. This show. I'm not sure what it is about mother-daughter stories that get me. (Gilmore Girls is obviously like oxygen at this point.) I think because, in your late 20s and early 30s you are close enough in age and experience of both the mother and teenage daughter. You can empathize with it all. You'll laugh and you'll cry and you'll feel like a girl in all the ways a girl can feel.”

“masterclass in family dynamic tv.”

“I am contractually obligated to re-rec this anytime I see it. Also, it was wonderful fun to make/work on, and there are too many shows about which that cannot be said.”

“This show is so funny and so real. I can’t do it justice - just watch!”

“Delightful, hilarious, genuine, and beautiful show.”

“This is a brilliant show. I watched it years ago and scenes will still randomly pop into my head all the time. It's about being a woman, a mother, a daughter, and an imperfect person in an imperfect world.”

“the most slept on show. so funny and endearing and artful. i don’t know how something like this got made, let alone got 5 seasons, but thank god. pamela adlon is king.”

“Pamela Adlon - Cancer Sun, Pisces or Aries Moon, unknown rising I love this show. A multi-generational family entirely made up of girls with boy names.”
