“For the soundtrack composed for the 1966 film of the same name, Sonny Rollins, arguably the greatest and most prolific jazz saxophonist to walk the earth, put together performances with other legends like Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Cleveland, J.J. Johnson and Roger Kellaway. To say Rollins' soundtrack transcends the film is to say the absolute least. It is a turning point in Jazz's trajectory locked in tape. For those in the scene, I wouldn't say this one is 'underrated' per se — but when compared to what albums get talked about most commonly, this one flys way under the radar. A west coast cool classic that swings so hard. Stream on Spotify Stream on Apple Music Buy Vinyl”
