“OH MY GODDDD I loved this movie. As my friend Kitty said, it was very much giving "are the hets okay?" and I really don't think they are, but damn, that makes for great cinema. As a middle-aged woman, I LOVE seeing my fellow middle-aged women represented in funny and complex character studies. Directed by and starring Olivia Wilde (one of my many queer awakenings thanks to her portrayal of the bisexual Alex in The O.C.) as a highly strung, and dare I say - Virgo-adjacent icon. Seth Rogen is in peak acting form as her hilariously honest hater husband. Their neighbours are played by Penelope Cruz (who I discovered is 52 years old, what a WOMAN) and is the hottest person alive with impeccable comic timing, and Edward Norton is hysterical as her partner in a refreshing departure from his otherwise very serious parts. It's also got a trailer that succeeds at giving you a taste of what to expect without giving away the entire plot. 5 stars. OBSESSED.”

Olivia as a deeply relatable and hilariously crazed anxiety girlie? Penelope killed it, Edward was the star. Wow. Only drag was when I had to move seats because the man behind me was guffawing too loudly.”

“I cannot remember the last time I laughed this hard in theaters. An absolute thrill. Everyone knew their role. The film embodies such a wide breadth of feelings: the stress it feels to host people, the longing for approval of those you deem cool and unattainable, the barely veiled messages in the looks cast across the room to your partner, and so so so much more.
