And then you need to stop and picture a sweaty, chubby teenager behind the counter, circa 1992, getting her finger prints dulled in the act of putting hot bread into paper bags for line-ups of cranky old Italian men who were sent to get bread for dinner by their wives and resented every second of it. That girl was me. Also the bread is truly great.”
