I just saw her retrospective and was very moved by the mystical, haunting breath of Abercrombie's practice. Vignettes: paintings within paintings, doors without hinges, illogical shadows, subtle snake eyes, suspended carnations, doors to nowhere or everywhere, witch switches, miniature portraits on silver brooches, and many all-knowing non-human familiars. The catalogue covers her allyship from anti-racism to queer kinship, and other parts of her personal history that seep into the dreamy work.”
