“People pleasers, over apologizers, ppl who always date addicts for some reason, have compulsive behaviors, over functioners, under functioners, compulsive care takers of others at their own expense, people who make themselves small, need control, need to be perfect, ppl who’s inner critic is the loudest voice in their head …. Adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families - I rec finding a meeting if you resonate with any or all of the laundry list of traits of adult children, shop around until you find a meeting that fits you. I went to a handful before finding mine, and the first I left feeling down n like I’d never share bc the group felt wrong or I didn’t belong. Can be easy to get discouraged, start w finding a meeting u like and go 6 times before writing it off. for me the loving parent guidebook meeting n an ACA 12 step one I found more fitting for my needs than big red book meeting.”
