Hiroshima Kagura Regular Performance

“Whenever we travel to a different prefecture in Japan, we love to learn about the local history/culture so we decided to attend a Kagura performance while in Hiroshima and I LOVED IT. Kagura (神楽) is a form of sacred Shinto music and dance, and translates into "entertainment for the gods" or "seat of the gods" (神 = god, 楽 = music/entertainment). It's one of the oldest performing arts in Japan, going back well over a thousand years and remains a living tradition performed at shrines and festivals across the country today. I really had no idea what was going on for most of the time, but I love the storytelling and costume design.”
