“If you’ve ever read Andy Cohen’s diaries there are a few recurring themes: nights out with SJP and Amy Sedaris, burgers with Anderson Cooper at Corner Bistro, and solo dinners at the bar of Sam’s when he arrives out east on Friday nights. Andy always orders the medium mushroom-and-onion pizza, well done. I started going to Sam’s because I read about it in Andy’s books, and although I’ve never spotted him there it’s become one of my absolute favorite places—cozy and classic. I love the passable thin-crust pizza; the better than it needs to be caesar salad; the original neon sign; and the salty waitresses. The building was sold last year for $6.25 million but I’ve been assured that Sam’s is not going anywhere, at least for the 18 months left on its lease. 36 Newtown Lane, East Hampton”
