“this one isn’t for the casual camper BUT if you backpack and you’re not yet on the quilt game, and especially the enlightened equipment game, it is timeeeee. the thing about down is it doesn’t work very well when you lay on it because you’re compressing the fluff that insulates you. so this quilt cuts the weight of a full length zipper (you laugh, but it can matter to your back!). you stick the loops around your sleeping pad and sleep directly on the pad with the cocoon around your feet and the quilt on top of you. it’s super warm and cozy and secure feeling, and because you have more freedom of movement with your legs it doesn’t give me the uncomfy feeling of a normal mummy bag. long story short, if you have been thinking of upgrading your back country sleep system or you’re building it from the ground up and want to be one-and-done, EE is the best! bonus points for them being a cottage brand from minnesota”
