“This apparently flopped on release and later became more of a cult classic, and rightly so (just to date myself more than I’d like, I remember watching this more than once on rented Blockbuster VHS tapes circa 1995, when I was in high school). It’s in the same general neo-noir/black-comedy genre ballpark as the Coens’ Blood Simple, with Nicholas Cage as a drifter who arrives in the town of Red Rock and is mistaken for a hit man, and the cast rounded out by Dennis Hopper, Lara Flynn Boyle, and legendary “Hey! It’s That Guy!” J.T. Walsh.”
