“7/10. This is a really good album. After a 6 year hiatus from making solo musing due to the creative bankruptcy Bowie was feeling, this album was a strong way for Bowie to return to making music. By 1993, Bowie was a changed man. He’d stepped out of the spotlight somewhat and he’d somewhat detached himself from his 80s superstardom. During his Tin Machine years, he was able to experience what it was like to not always be at the center of his music. He also got married to Iman, whom he would stay married to until his death. For the first time in a long time, Bowie felt stable and truly happy. Around the time, he also kicked his addictions to cigarettes and alcohol. This is and its following albums are some of the most uplifting music in Bowie’s career. On this album specifically, it brings back all that experimentation and weirdness that makes Bowie such a good artist. Some of my favorites are You’ve Been Around, Jump They Say, The Wedding Song, and Miracle Goodnight”
