“Listen here, caretakers of little ones: your littles don't have to watch crap, annoying TV shows just because other kiddos are doing it.
My kid (23 now) never watched a single episode of The Wiggles. Wanna know why? Because I hated The Wiggles and found them to be creepy. End of story. I also hated Dora the Explorer. I hated most kids' show and so I didn't allow my kid to watch them. Did they miss them? No. You know why? Because they didn't know they existed. And I gave them better things to watch like Charlie and Lola, Bear in the Big Blue House, Winnie-the-Pooh, Fractured Fairytales, The Muppets... There's plenty of good stuff out there. When my other mommie friend's would whine about how many times they had to listen to The Wiggles in the car, I would say, "Well, whose fault is that? Who put it on? You did!" My kid listened to whatever music I listened to in the car... until they became a teen and we would make a family playlist or let them have at it. But by that time they'd been raised on The Beatles and Miles Davis and The Strokes and The Pussycat Dolls if I'm being completely honest. And surprise surprise, when they picked music as a teen, I often loved what they picked. Panic at Disco, Taylor Swift, Janelle Monae... I take credit for the fact that once my kid opted out of a special movie day at school because they movie was Alvin and The Chipmunks and my kid said, "This is a silly movie and it's giving me a headache." and they were right.
Good taste is taught and The Wiggles ain't it. Charlie and Lola is.”
