“ABDURRAQIB: I want an exchange of fandom. That’s what I’m excited about. I don’t care how old you are or what musical background you came from. If you have access to hearing something better than I have, then I want that. I want to like music. I want to love music. Sometimes it doesn’t hit, and sometimes I’ve got to tell people, “I listened to that shit, and it wasn’t hitting for me. But I thank you for offering me the path.””

“Great interview from Abdurraqib on creative and culture writing, and how writing is a conversation. I admire his work as an essayist and poet so ymmv, but this is a solid Q&A that I find myself coming back to when stuck.”
