“There is one of these shops in most neighborhoods in Rome, even on the outskirts. Some have cafes too and all have a different selection. I come here to buy non-Italian things (French mustard, English tea, Mexican escabeche) because they sell anything seen as special in Italy food-wise but if I was just visiting, it’s where I would shop for foodstuffs souvenirs. Coffee in beautiful tins, any licorice you could imagine, nonna candies and wild Italian vegetables under oil.”
