Kelsy CARLEEN“A perfect, beloved food. Do not try to make it fancy, do not buy fancy chips, just mix the packet into the sour cream and bring it to the party.”

Lauren Servideo“my paternal grandma made onion dip using this, which I’ve grown to love. I was a helluva good french onion dip loyalist for years because my maternal grandma beat my other grandma to the punch on getting me hooked. once a year I will buy both and alternate dipping chip”

If you’re going homemade, a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix in one container of sour cream. That’s it. I do think it’s best if you make it fresh, so I’m not afraid to show up to a party with my own spoon and do a whole bit about “making it tableside” but it’s not awful if you mix it before you leave the house. For chip choices I’m partial to Vitner’s or UTZ but if those are too regional then Ruffles will get the job done.”
