The Visitors

“can kinda see it now :) wander around the room, get comfortable, and follow what catches your attention. and maybe this layout is easier to follow:”

“If this comes to your city run don’t walk to see it! “The Visitors” was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at a museum before. In one room, surrounded by nine screens, you follow nine musician “visitors” as they perform—part song, part incantation—in a historic mansion. I highly rec timing it so you view from start to finish, yes the full hour!”

“have seen this installation mounted in several museums across different countries and it HITS every time. i still remember the first time i saw it at the broad in los angeles over a decade ago and how taken i was (and still am).”

“This is NOT on view, but if it ever comes your way, don't miss it. When I first saw this at The Broad, I filed it in my brain under "art that made me cry" and waited about a decade to see it again (I set a Google alert!) last winter at SFMoMA, this time with my kids. It is a nine-channel/screen installation that you can experience lying on the floor.”
