“It's my sad song. Like the color, my blues come in many shades, and this song captures the full spectrum. The basic down/low feelings. The deeper wallow. The need to wrap oneself tightly in a blanket. The relief of a good cry. The quiet joy of feeling anything at all. (Sufjan forever!!) So yes, get yourself a sad song and play it maybe two or three times in a row. Or it doesn't even have to be a song, but a something! In my not-at-all professional opinion, it's nice to have a ritual to sadness, like a routine to fall back on when things feel too much. It helps you get the reins back.”
