“In 1984, Astronaut Bruce McCandless took the first untethered space walk using the Manned Maneuvering Unit. The space walk lasted six hours, was cold, and not at all peaceful with the chatter of three audio feeds buzzing in his ear. Despite the fact that the plan called for it, McCandless never turned away from the shuttle.”
