“Gretchen Bender's Dumping Core crashed advertisements, logos, graphics, news clips, television shows, and cinema together into a 13 minute delirium. Displayed in a dark room, the overwhelm of bright, flashing visuals upon thirteen different monitors is wholly captivating... almost hypnotic. If the eyes are stimulated, the ears are too. Deep rhythms and eerie pitches are overlayed by mangled sound bites of speech and television clips. Blared over loudspeakers, there exists no sensory capacity to think of anything than what is immediately present. Full immersion. For better or for worse. Technology and the digital landscape reigns in Dumping Core. Your thoughts do not. 1984 it is dated. Technology's reign over our senses has only become more pronounced with time, maintaining an intense control over our lives, thoughts, attitudes, and senses...”
