One of my wackier hauls was when I borrowed Afterlife and Magic Mike in the same breath (I hadn't yet seen the former and had obviously already seen the latter). Got the librarian to give me an approving giggle.”

You can pick whatever book you want online and they just ship them over to your closest library. How are we so lucky! I think I used to be afraid of the library, afraid of the responsibility, afraid of the big city, but now I'm realizing the power of community and the incredible luck that I have to be allowed to read whatever I want and for free. Books are powerful!”

Free audiobooks as far as the ear can hear, free printing for random projects. Once you step back into the brick and mortar houses of knowledge, the digital archives reveal themselves to be slightly goblin-like. Filled with viruses and paywalls. The library is a sanctuary. A true egalitarian altar of knowledge that could at the very least save you $16/month on an audible subscription.”
