“I was so sad when Wimpy’s went out of business (walking distance for one of the two best burgers in town), and then I was slightly okayer when it was reincarnated as Durham Filling Station. Now, although I’d still give anything for a Wimpy burger, I’m the okayest I’ll ever be. They did such a nice job of fixing up this spot inside, as well as making the outside area feel so nice. They are super fun and engaged with the community, too, like they had a naming contest for the bar out back. (I offered Jorts by the Sea and The Jeanius Bar), but they went with something else and named a cocktail Jorts (which makes me very happy even though I don’t drink because I never win anything). It’s a pineapple-y slushie that is very good (I tried it sans alcohol) plus gin, vodka, and triple sec.”
